Avoid these mistakes for better blogs-2

3 principles to live by for better blogs

Blog writing is one of the best ways to create quick, interesting and engaging content to push to your digital audiences via social media, email and other channels. But with so much content out there on the web, you need to make sure your blogs are of a high standard if they’re going to stand out.

Try sticking to these three principles for better blog content.

Keep it simple

In this buzzing technological age, information is best delivered in small, digestible chunks. That’s why all the best blog posts are broken down between subheaders and don’t usually exceed 500-700 words.

Long-form articles still have their place, but the vast majority of internet users tend to have short attention spans, so try to keep your titles short and snappy and limit each sub-category to 100-150 words.

Of course, don’t forget to include as many appropriate keywords as possible.

Stick to the point

It’s not just the structure of your blog that should be kept simple – you should also make sure not to overcomplicate things by covering too many subjects in a single blog post. Instead, focus your blog on one subject and stick to it.

Make it eye-catching

So, that’s your structure and written content taken care of. Now it’s time to think about design.

If you’re as much of a whiz with PhotoShop as you are with writing blogs then creating eye-catching graphics to insert into your blogs shouldn’t be a problem. But if graphic design isn’t in your bag of tricks then it’s important that you source the best possible photos, cartoons, GIFs and whatever else you can get your hands on. Don’t overload your blogs; just include enough to make them visually interesting without distracting the reader.

There are plenty of free stock image websites out there, but if you want something tailored specifically to your brand then it’s probably a good idea to invest in a graphic design service.
